| Peter Meindl and Peggy Melonic Win Convincingly at the Shoes For The Shelter 5K BUFFALO Sunday April 14, 2002 - Peter Meindl made another rare road appearance and trounced a large field of 475 runners at the annual Canisius College Shoes For The Shelter 5K. Peter's time for the rain soaked 5K course was 15:34. In his wake was last year's champion, Mike Heitzenrater. Mike ran well enough - even improving on last year's winning time of 16:39 to post a credit-worthy 16:12. But Peter Meindl was unassailable. Peter's Bios Track Club Teammate Peggy Melonic won the womens race. Peggy was also last year's champion. Peggy's winning time was even better this year as she posted an impressive 18:55. Repeating as male masters winner was Dan Essler in 17:54. Womens Master winner was Carolyn Corgel who posted a fine 21:51 performance. Click here for complete race results at Leone Timing
