Nearly 100 Area Runners Participate in Annual Jim Gorman Memorial Fun Run/Walk

BUFFALO (FEB-24-2002) - The 7th annual Jim Gorman Memorial Fun Run/Walk was held on Sunday morning February 24th. The running route was from the Bison City Rod and Gun Club on Ohio Street in the Old First Ward. The event serves a warm up for one of the first races of Buffalo's running season and a memorial to a fellow runner.

About 100 participants enjoyed a sun filled morning on the 8K course which takes in a view of Lake Erie and other landmarks in one of Buffalo's most colorful neighborhoods. Afterwards a sit down breakfast, short program, a lot of comradery and door prizes were enjoyed by all.

The South Buffalo Athletic Club coordinates this annual event, the week before the Shamrock Run, in honor of Jim Gorman, an avid runner, who has passed away. The SBAC has set up a scholarship fund in Jim's memory giving away almost $3000.00 last year to high school bound students.
