Local Track Meet To Be Held July 8 All-Comers Format Presents Best Opportunity For Locals To Sample Track & Field Action BUFFALO - (June 20, 2001) This year's Niagara Association USATF Track and Field Seniors and Masters meet will be held on Sunday July 8 at the track of the JFK High School in Cheektowaga. All athletes are welcome to participate, regardless of ability. A full slate of events will be offered for both the senior division (men/boys and women/girls under 40) and masters (men and women 40 and over). Registration opens at 9:00 AM and the first event gets uderway at 10:30AM. The first event is the 5K race walk. There will be sprints, middle distances, hurdles, field events, 4-person relays and even the 3000 meter steeplechase will be contested if enough persons have the courage to enter. Prestigious USATF Association championship gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded for the top three performances in each event, including the top three in each Masters age-group. Winners and top performers will be eligible to advance to the Eastern Regional meet. This year's meet director is Perry Jenkins. The JFK High School is located at 305 Cayuga Creek Road in Cheektowaga. The location is near the Henry Street intersection and west of Union, south of William, and north of Clinton. The only requirement is a valid USATF membership card. Membership applications will be available at the meet and can also be acquired in advance by contacting the membership chairman, Becky Heuer. USATF memberships are valid for the current year and cost $15 for adults and $12 for youth 18 and under.
