There is a new book out on running:
"Running with the Mind of Meditation"
by Sakyong Mipham
Well worth reading, it makes a lot sense to combine the 2 disciplines.

Theoretically it sounds great, Lloyd, but, admittedly without having read the book, I have to say that I'd be worried about meditating while running on public roads, in traffic.
Peace, over and out.

Jan, I guess one sentence is not enough for a book review. But the author makes it clear that Running and Meditation are 2 distinct activities and are practiced separately. The practice of Meditation is performed while sitting. Running is a natural exercise of the body and meditation is a natural exercise of the mind, so they compliment each other. For example the main focus during Meditation is following your breath in and out, this practice can develop deeper more relaxed breathing, which may help your runnning.

Platt read one time that ayurvedic breathing would help endurance performance...so he tried it. He eventually became dizzy in the middle of his run, fell into a ditch, scraped himself up and twisted his knee! Had to limp home and think of a story.
He tried meditating on a treadmill...lying on the floor - his dog looking down upon him with that twisted head confused dog look- he decided to go back to convention. It is there that he has remained. Alive and upright.

| This sounds like one of those commercials. "Don't end up in a road side ditch." |
